What about wallpaper on the ceiling?

Lately, I have read on the Apartment Therapy blog about the idea of putting wallpaper on the ceiling. I had always thought that it will make the interior look smaller and less airy, however I have looked at couple pictures and I became convinced that it can be an interesting surprise! It can really look fun and bold!

TIP: Putting wallpaper on the ceiling is more complicated that its look like. You save yourself a lot of work and stress if you hire professionals!

Industrial style swing arm lamps

Do you remember the lamp from the Love Scandi home website? I have decided to write about that type of lighting, because they are very easy and affordable ways to create an industrial look. They are simple so they would blend nicely with almost all interiors! I chose a couple that I really like:

Northern Delights: Scandinavian Homes, Interiors and Design

As a Scandinavian style lover, I treat the Emma Fexeus Blog as my bible. I couldn’t have been happier when I found out that this incredible blogger published a collection of pictures that emphasize her style. Northern Delights: Scandinavian Homes, Interiors and Design presents classic, Scandinavian style, but also does not forget about modern, creative designers. The selection of pictures gathered in the book shows everything that is so great about Scandinavian style: clarity, freshness, simplicity and innovation. You can order this publication on Amazon or Barns and Noble. Here are couple samplers from the book:

Oversized glass bottles

I have recently been obsessed by these big bottles made from colored glass! I saw them in a couple European stores (e.i. HK Living) but they do not ship to The United States.. So I started looking on-line and I found a very similar product in Pottery Barn. Those oversized glass bottles cost between $99.00 and $199.00.

Look how awesome they can look as a decorative element:

Inspired by concrete

I always associated concrete with boring, squared buildings of big cities. Lately though, I am finding this harsh material more and more interesting. It can create an amazing lofty look. It is difficult to use concrete elements in interiors and make them look neat, but if you use proper products and techniques, you can create a unique, industrial style.

Here is some more information about creating concrete elements in interiors:

1. To keep concrete surfaces looking good, clean them with non-abrasive cleaners and a soft cloth wipe down with a mild solution of soap and water, about once a month.

2. Be sure to work with reputable and qualified concrete specialist. Also, make sure that your home can handle  some extra weight!

3. If using concrete seems too complicated for you, you can achieve a similar effect by putting a modern, “concrete look-a-like” wallpaper on your wall. You can read more about it on Apartment Therapy website.

4. You can try to put concrete on the wall by following simple steps presented on Kara Palasy Designs blog.

Concrete has limitless design options, so look at these pictures and get inspired!

Concrete floor or ceiling

Concrete floor or ceiling might appear harsh and cold, but it will change if you combine them with wood and soft textures.

Concrete furniture and home decor elements

Modern designers are taking the advantage of this hard building material and using it to make furniture and home decor elements.
